Sometimes an off-the-shelf product just won’t work for your application.  You don’t see many cars on the road with ill-fitting door handles, do you? NO!  In some cases, a custom solution might be the only solution that will work for you and your customers.  Thankfully, all of our vendors have the capacity to make changes to any of their custom designs.  Whether it’s a small change to the color or a more substantial change (a new size, different threads, keyway or hole locations) we can be your liaison to the factory to make that change possible.  We have all the contacts to get you quick answers, which saves you time and effort.

We can shorten lead times!

Sometimes they do, but that shouldn’t be an obstacle.  We can help you with long replenishment lead times by stocking your custom products in Winnipeg, and delivering them to you when you need them.  The initial lead time is the only time you might have to wait for product.

We can avoid factory minimums…mostly.

Depending on the nature of the modification, the factory might require that you order a year’s worth of material on one purchase order.  We can help here too!  We can stock your custom products in Winnipeg and ship them to you on a pre-determined schedule of shipments over a 12 month period.  You would need to commit to the whole quantity, but your accountant will love the fact that you’re able to receive them in scheduled deliveries.

Where Are All The Product Details?

Screen-shot-2012-02-16-at-1.31.18-PM_thumbOne of the first things you’ll notice on our website is that there’s not a lot of drawings, schematics, or “product specifications”.  There also aren’t any prices listed.  While this “lack of detail” may seem frustrating at first, we hope you’ll understand that the purpose of our website is not to replace the human element of our business, but to add to it.

We’re all about working with you to make sure you have the right part for the job, and sometimes that means asking more questions and getting to know you a little bit. We’ll make every effort to ensure that you’ve got the right part, that it fits your budget and that it performs the way you expect it to perform.  With that in mind, we encourage you to use our Contact Form to ask us your questions or to have us call you back.

WHERE ARE ALL THE PRODUCT DETAILS?

One of the things you’ll notice about our website is that there aren’t a lot of downloadable CAD files, product specifications or sell sheets.  Instead, you’ll find information on where our products are mostly used and specific product information that might be of interest.  From there, we hope that you’ll call us for more information, because that’s where we can save you some time and effort. For example, you could look through a matrix of options, colors, finishes and grip ranges to find the one part number you need, or you could call us at 1-800-318-1119, give us your specs and have us do the searching for you immediately.  We might also ask you some questions about your application that could save you even more time if the latch you thought you wanted isn’t actually the one you actually need. Not keen on calling us?  We get it.  It’s the digital age and all of this should be easily done by email.  NO WORRIES!  Just use our handy Contact Form to tell us a little about your project and we’ll take it from there.  We can give you suggestions, send you options (with pictures!) and give you an idea of what the cost might be. The Pain Of Change

Have you ever asked someone WHY they do something a certain way, only to get the answer “We’ve always done it that way.”?  Do they continue to use an old system because it’s truly the best, most efficient way or is it because it’s easier to stay the course than to evaluate and improve?  This is an age-old question. 

What is the cost of change?  There are certainly “costs” involved in making change, whether it’s changing a vendor or updating a drawing.  You might consider the cost of your time to evaluate the old process to determine potential changes that could increase profitability.  Does the increased efficiency create a return on your time investment?  In other words, is it worth the change?  If a change requires updates to your purchasing system (new vendors, updating Bills of Material, certifications), it may seem a daunting task but even so, you should consider the long term benefits of such a change.

Part of our focus, when working with established manufacturers, is on the cost of ANY change we might be causing.  Even a “drop-in replacement” can have a positive effect on your bottom line.  It’s possible that by going through the work of adding a new vendor, certifying and approving that vendor, you might experience a reduction in warranty repair costs, or even shipping costs.

Staff-TrainingYou know how at some companies, new employees get to wear the “IN TRAINING” name tag?  When their training is done, they get a “normal” name tag and one could assume that their training is done.  They’re trained.  No more to learn. That may work in some companies, but we think that in our business, customers expect more than that. In our industry, there are advancements in technology, and we need to learn about them.  That’s how we’ve become the leaders in our field!  We’re more than just a warehouse full of part numbers.  We’re not just an order desk.  We’re technical support, design assistance and a great resource for finding “just the right part” for your application.
