An article about Canada's economic forecast posted by Modern Distribution Management says that Canadian companies weathered the recession better than their counterparts in most of the other G7 countries.  That’s good news… sort of.

Many industries were hit hard by a seemingly immediate downturn in business.  Order stopped coming in.  Production levels were reduced, which forced plant shutdowns, labour force reductions, and severe cost-cutting measures at every level.  Thankfully, those that acted quickly or those who saw this coming were able to avert the worst-case option.

Many of us can look back and take some (maybe small) comfort from our past experience of economic recession and difficult times:  we will emerge from this a stronger, more efficient company.  We’ve had to re-think many of our processes, and rationalize several costs (no iPhone for me yet!) but in the end, we’re still here, and we’re able to continue serving our customers.  We’re ready to respond at a moment’s notice whenever our customers need us.
