No free lunch, but samples are worth the small cost. |
|
How many times have you been in such a rush to finish a product that you accidentally ordered the wrong part number and discovered the error only when it's time to begin production? How much does it cost to fix that kind of error? There's the potential for air freight, restocking fees and brokerage charges... We've seen customers choose NOT to order samples, and then pay hundreds of dollars just to fix a mistake. There are SO many good reasons to order samples! - You (or your customer) can see without a doubt if the part you're about to order will work the way you imagined it would
- Prototypes help sell your product better than CAD drawings
- Samples help you to make adjustments before production begins, when it's too late to make those adjustments
- AND MORE!
But there's a small catch. Because we import most of the products we sell, there's a cost even if the part itself is free. Steeves Agencies charges a small $25 sample charge to cover the freight and brokerage costs associated with sample orders. The sample itself is "no charge", all we ask is that you cover the small cost of getting it here. Of course, there are some who think that this is just a way of making money from otherwise "free" samples. It's not. The average cost of brokerage on a small item (less than $200 USD) arriving by ground incurs an automatic brokerage charge of about $10. Add the freight (say, around $15) and you have a "free" sample that now cost you $25, regardless if it's a fifty-cent screw assembly or a fifty dollar compression latch. EVEN WHEN YOU DON'T THINK YOU HAVE TIME... ORDER A SAMPLE! The time it takes to order a sample will cost you FAR less than the time and money it will take to fix a mistake. |
